The 3-day Lake Mburo National Park safari oers a perfect weekend escape, just a few hours’ drive from Kampala. This package features game drives, a boat safari, and a guided bush walk through the park's rich savannah, offering relaxation at a lodge. Known for its zebras, impalas, and elands—the world’s largest antelope found only here in Uganda—the park also allows an optional horseback safari for a unique adventure.
Lake Mburo, Uganda’s smallest savannah park (260 sq. km), is easily accessible along the Kampala-Mbarara highway. Though compact, it boasts diverse landscapes, from acacia woodlands and open savannah to lakes, swamps, and rocky outcrops, home to over 315 bird species and various wildlife.
After Breakfast, depart for Lake Mburo National Park, stopping at the Uganda Equator for photos or coffee. Upon arrival, check into the lodge, have lunch, and relax before an afternoon game drive, where you’ll see zebras, giraffes, buffalos, and, with luck, a leopard. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Begin with a morning Game Drive, with breakfast before or after, then return to the lodge to relax before lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a two-hour boat cruise on Lake Mburo, spotting crocodiles, hippos, and diverse birdlife. Later, enjoy a night game drive, which is a rare chance to see nocturnal animals like hyenas and possibly a leopard.
Start with a guided morning nature walk, offering close encounters with elands and other wildlife. Afterward, return to the lodge, freshen up, and begin the drive back to Kampala, with another optional stop at the Equator. The safari concludes with a drop-off in Kampala.
